Ray Davis
Ray Davis Continues to work behind Cook
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 2:47 PM
As training camp approaches, Davis is on track to maintain his complementary role in a Buffalo backfield that returns starter James Cook as well as Ty Johnson, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
Analysis: During the 2025 regular season, Cook logged 309 carries (third in the NFL) for a league-high 1,621 rushing yards in 17 contests, a heavy workload that didn't leave much volume for either Davis (58 carries) or Ty Johnson (50 carries). With Cook entrenched as the Bills' lead back, Davis brings modest fantasy utility into 2026, but he remains a valuable backup who excels as a kicker returner. If Cook were to miss time, Davis -- who racked up 151 rushing yards on 21 carries during a spot start in Week 18 last season -- would likely step in as the starter, with Johnson also in the mix.
DJ Moore
DJ Moore Settling in as Allen's top target
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 5:04 PM
Quarterback Josh Allen said in late June that Moore has been "a pretty seamless fit" and is "going to be a huge help" for Buffalo's offense in 2026, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Moore was acquired by the Bills from Chicago in March for a second-round pick, and the 29-year-old veteran steps into a new wide receiver room alongside Khalil Shakir to provide Allen a true proven No. 1 receiver for the first time since Stefon Diggs' departure back in 2024. Catching passes from one of the NFL's premier quarterbacks will aid Moore as he looks to bounce back from a down 2025 season with the Bears, in which he totaled a career-worst 50-682-6 receiving line despite suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. Moore faces less competition for targets in Buffalo, as behind Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid, the likes of Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman and Skyler Bell fill out the team's receiver corps. If Moore can demonstrate that he hasn't lost a step at age 29, he'll be in position to bounce back in 2026 even if his best days are behind him.
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman Turns in strong minicamp
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 2:08 PM
According to Nick Wojton of USA TODAY, Coleman "had some big efforts" during team drills at the Bills' recent minicamp.
Analysis: Per Wojton, Coleman, whose fantasy impact has been modest since being drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, was able to take advantage of Josh Palmer (ankle) missing time at Buffalo's minicamp. As the coming season approaches, DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir top the Bills' WR depth chart, but as Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic previously noted, the team likely wants Coleman to seize the WR3 role in his third season. To do that, however, he'll have to outperform Palmer, Tyrell Shavers (knee) and rookie fourth-rounder Skyler Bell this summer.
Khalil Shakir
Khalil Shakir Set for key role once again
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 9:16 AM
As his fifth season with Bills approaches, Shakir remains a key component of a WR corps that's been bolstered by offseason trade acquisition DJ Moore and rookie fourth-rounder Skyler Bell.
Analysis: Shakir is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he put together a 72-719-4 receiving line on a team-high 95 targets, marking the second year in a row he paced the Bills in that category. While Moore now projects as QB Josh Allen's top WR target, Shakir should still see enough volume out of the slot in 2026 to maintain a degree of fantasy PPR utility. Meanwhile, as Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic has previously noted, the other starting spot in 11 personnel (three receivers) is up for grabs as training camp approaches, with Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, Bell and Tyrell Shavers (knee) set to compete for slotting behind Moore and Shakir.
Ian Wheeler
Ian Wheeler Joining Buffalo
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 4:29 PM
The Bills signed Wheeler to a one-year deal on Thursday, Alec White of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Wheeler signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2024 before suffering a knee injury that killed all momentum in his rookie season. The running back joined the Saints' practice squad in 2025 before departing the league for the UFL. Wheeler was named United Bowl MVP and rushed for 541 yards over 85 carries in 11 games during the 2026 UFL season. The 24-year-old will compete for a depth spot with the Bills behind 2025 rushing-title winner James Cook.
Reverts to reserve list
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 4:21 PM
Strong (neck) reverted to the reserve/non-football injury list Friday.
Analysis: Strong had a productive rookie season, logging reps at outside cornerback throughout the first four weeks of the 2025 season before suffering a career-altering neck injury. The 2025 sixth-round pick was seen at OTAs, but he's not expected to play in 2026 due to the severity of the neck issue. Strong cleared waivers, allowing the Bills to keep him on the roster as he works towards a possible return in 2027.
Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid Reverts to IR
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 4:12 PM
Reid (undisclosed) reverted to the Bills' injured-reserve list Friday after being waived Thursday, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Analysis: The undrafted running back from the University of Pittsburgh will have to miss the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Bills. Reid played in seven games during his senior season at Pitt, recording 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns over 60 carries. He also recorded 23 receptions for 317 yards and two touchdowns.
Max Tomczak
Max Tomczak Back with Buffalo
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 7:19 PM
Tomczak signed with the Bills on Thursday.
Analysis: The wide receiver initially signed with Buffalo as an undrafted free agent in April, but he was waived in May. Tomczak caught 225 passes for 3,024 yards and 15 touchdowns in four seasons at Youngstown State.
Deven Thompkins
Deven Thompkins Signs with Buffalo
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 7:17 PM
Thompkins signed with the Bills on Thursday.
Analysis: The wide receiver was cut by Atlanta in May after seeing action as a punt and kick returner for the team in 2025. Thompkins will likely aim to compete for a similar role with the Bills, as he has just 29 regular-season catches across four NFL campaigns.
Joshua Palmer
Joshua Palmer Feeling healthy ahead of new season
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 2:16 PM
After working off to the side during OTAs, Palmer (ankle) has been back as a participant during mandatory minicamp, Alec White and Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site report. "I'm feeling a lot better, starting to feel a lot more like myself," Palmer said after Wednesday's practice. "(I'm) close to pre-injury."
Analysis: Palmer was plagued by the injury for a good chunk of the 2025 season in and out of the lineup and ended up missing both of the team's playoff games, but he's feeling much better as prep for the new campaign gets underway. After posting a disappointing 22-303-0 line in his first season with the Bills, Palmer should be able to play more and do more in his next go-around. However, with DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid and James Cook all ahead of him in the pecking order, Palmer's upside is probably capped unless the Bills get struck with a number of injuries to their passing game.
Targeting training camp return
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 3:43 PM
Bishop had "some stuff cleaned up in the knee" but is expected to return for training camp, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Analysis: Bishop has not been participating in the Bills' minicamp due to this knee procedure and will continue to rehab in Buffalo until training camp begins. The third-year pro from Utah posted impressive numbers in 2025, tallying 85 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and seven passes defensed, with three interceptions, while playing in all 17 regular-season contests. Once fully healthy, he's expected to remain Buffalo's top strong safety.
Sidelined for minicamp
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 6:51 PM
Coach Joe Brady said Tuesday that Williams (lower body) is nursing an injury, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brady did not go into detail when speaking about the injury, but he did say that Williams is expected to be ready for training camp in July. In the meantime, veteran free agent acquisition Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles might get some looks with the first-team defense.
Back in pads for OTAs
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 7:23 PM
Oliver (knee) is participating in the Bills' OTAs, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Back in January, Oliver left Buffalo's loss at Denver in the divisional round early with a knee injury, but the issue does not seem to be bothering him any longer. He projects to start on the Bills' defensive line in 2026 as long as he's available, and he'll be looking to bounce back from a season which saw him appear in just four games as he dealt with biceps and meniscus injuries.
Mac Dalena
Mac Dalena Heading to Buffalo
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 6:22 PM
Dalena signed with the Bills on Monday.
Analysis: The wide receiver signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January before being waived by the team in May. Dalena was let go by the Chiefs ahead of the 2025 campaign but spent some time on the Seahawks' practice squad during the season. He has not yet appeared in an NFL regular-season game.
Links up with Buffalo
Wed, May 27, 2026, 3:37 PM
Flannigan-Fowles signed a one-year deal with the Bills on Wednesday.
Analysis: After spending his 2025 campaign with the Giants, Flannigan-Fowles has found a new home in Buffalo. The 29-year-old appeared in 10 games last season, recording 33 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defensed while playing 330 total snaps (224 on defense, 106 on special teams). Now with the Bills, Flannigan-Fowles is expected to compete for a reserve inside linebacker role ahead of the 2026 season.
Ty Johnson
Ty Johnson Past ankle injury
Wed, May 27, 2026, 1:01 PM
Johnson (ankle) is participating in OTAs, Jeffrey Barnes of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports.
Analysis: Johnson missed the Bills' two playoff games back in January but is now 100 percent healthy. He should again handle the pass-game, change-of-pace role behind James Cook in 2026 after Buffalo did nothing to address the running back room over the offseason. Johnson carried the ball 50 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns and added a 24-263-2 line as a receiver across 17 regular-season contests last season.
Sheds neck brace
Tue, May 26, 2026, 2:52 PM
Strong was spotted at Buffalo's OTAs on Tuesday without a neck brace, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It appears Strong is still nursing his neck injury, as he wasn't participating in Tuesday's voluntary OTAs. However, the fact that he's no longer wearing a neck brace is an encouraging sign for his recovery ahead of the 2026 season. The 2025 sixth-round pick from Virginia Tech appeared in four regular-season games during his rookie campaign, recording 10 total tackles across 133 total snaps (87 on defense, 46 on special teams).
James Cook III
James Cook Not present for start of OTAs
Thu, May 21, 2026, 10:56 AM
Cook was not present for the start of OTAs on Tuesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
Analysis: While OTAs are quote unquote "voluntary," it's a notable absence, as the rest of Buffalo's star players and veteran leaders were in attendance for new coach Joe Brady's first open practice session. There's been no reason given for Cook's absence, and he just signed a new four-year, $46 million contract last summer after "holding in" at training camp. Cook, however, has already fallen behind the top of the running back market after De'Von Achane, Kenneth Walker, Breece Hall and Travis Etienne all received bigger deals this offseason. It's possible Cook is looking at that and pushing for more money after leading the league in rushing with 1,621 yards and 12 touchdowns on a career-high 309 carries last regular season. With Cook idle to begin OTAs, Frank Gore and Ray Davis have seen more reps with the first-team offense, according to Parrino.
Returns from Achilles injury
Wed, May 20, 2026, 4:12 PM
Carter (Achilles) participated in Buffalo's OTAs on Wednesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
Analysis: Carter, who missed all of the Bills' 2025 season due to a torn Achilles, has now returned to the field and moved past his injury. The 2024 third-round pick from Duke appeared in 11 regular-season games during his rookie campaign, recording 14 total tackles and one pass defensed. Carter also bulked up to 330-pounds this offseason and is expected to compete for meaningful reps at nose tackle.
Returns for OTAs
Wed, May 20, 2026, 3:34 PM
Bernard (calf) was spotted participating in the Bills' OTAs on Wednesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
Analysis: Bernard missed Buffalo's final three games (including playoffs) last season due to a calf injury. However, his participation in Wednesday's OTAs suggests he's recovered from the issue. The Baylor product dealt with multiple injuries during the 2025 campaign, appearing in just 12 regular-season games and recording 65 total tackles and three passes defensed, including one interception. Now fully healthy, Bernard is expected to remain a crucial part of the Bills' linebacker corps in 2026.
